…In Maine, New England, and the Nations

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.Acts 1:8 (Jesus speaking to His disciples)

And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.” Revelation 5:9

Our Vision and What We Do

Morninglight is currently based in Portland, Maine, but God has given the ministry a global heart.

Over the years, the women of Morninglight have:

  • Sponsored a cross-tribal interdenominational women’s conference in Burundi.
  • Fed destitute hungry children and orphans in Haiti, both before and after the 2010 earthquake.
  • Helped provide Bibles in China.
  • Helped a 5,000 member multiethnic church in Burundi  purchase its land despite intense opposition from the surrounding community.
  • Ministered to women’s groups in Rwanda and Burundi through our leadership team.

Morninglight participants have also ministered in the nations including Rwanda, Burundi, Israel, China, Zambia, Haiti, Poland, and the Dominican Republic.

Perhaps most significantly, God has brought the nations to us! Long considered the “whitest state in the Union,” Maine has increasingly become home to immigrants and refugees from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and eastern Europe. Many have survived genocide. Some have witnessed the murder of children and husbands. Some have been imprisoned in tribal and ethnic conflict in their native countries.

Morninglight has welcomed our sisters from other lands to Maine. We are blessed to have a multicultural leadership team and membership. The growing diversity in the body of Christ among us blesses us  richly. Despite tremendous heartache, many of our sisters who have suffered the most persevere in their faith and praise God with all of their hearts. They are an encouragement to us all!
